Sarah Adamson
Registered Physiotherapist, Pelvic Health Physiotherapist
MPT, BSc (Hons)
Sarah was born and raised in Victoria, and after nearly 20 years of living and working in the beautiful West Kootenays she is happy to once more be residing on Vancouver Island. Sarah graduated from UVic in 2003 with a Bachelors of Science (Hons.) in Biology, and then graduated from UBC in 2006 with a Masters of Physical Therapy. Since graduation she has been committed to further education ranging from manual therapy course, bike fit, the vestibular system, and in 2017 received certification to be a Pelvic Health Physiotherapist. While Sarah started specializing in the pelvic floor in 2017 she has also maintained a strong orthopaedic caseload. She has found it rewarding to be able to integrate skills learned in both spheres to best treat individual patients.
In addition to being able to effectively treat pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence and offer the pre and postpartum care which one usually associates with a pelvic health physio, Sarah has also taken advanced training in pelvic pain, the neurogenic bladder and bowel, pelvic cancers, paediatrics, anorectal disorders (including fecal incontinence, constipation), pregnancy and pelvic girdle pain. Women are not the only people who can benefit from seeing a pelvic health physio!
Sarah has a passion for education and has had the privilege to speak about pelvic health to groups ranging from physicians and medical residents, to fitness professionals, athletes and the general public. Since returning to Victoria, Sarah has built a strong relationship with the Island Prostate Centre and enjoys helping men who are under going treatment for prostate cancer.
In her free time Sarah enjoys swimming, cycling and skiing. She also loves the time spent with her husband and son in the outdoors, be it paddling, hiking, camping or sailing.
