What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapists (aka physical therapists) are trained and licensed movement experts. They can assess and treat a wide range of injuries, disabilities, and health conditions. In orthopaedic private practices like Motus, we work autonomously but in communication with surgeons, family physicians, and other allied health professionals to help our patients move, feel, and live better.
“With a patient-centred approach, physiotherapists use evidence-informed knowledge of rehabilitation sciences, anatomy, kinesiology and physiology to assess, treat, and manage pain, injuries, movement dysfunction, and chronic conditions. The goal of physiotherapy is to empower, promote independence and improve the quality of life for British Columbians across all ages and abilities.”
-The Physiotherapy Association of BC
How do we approach physiotherapy at Motus?
Our patients can be confident that they will be treated by a professional, caring, and evidence-based physiotherapist, who will take the time to listen, assess, and create a treatment plan specifically for them. We work one-on-one with our patients for their whole appointment, at every appointment. We have a fully equipped gym space, and we use it often. We believe that exercise is medicine. Our goal is to empower patients to achieve their goals, whether that means making the team, running an ultra-marathon, or taking care of their grandchildren.
Reaching Your Athletic Goals
You are strong. You are resilient. You can do it. We can help you.
We treat patients under the direction of our core values:
- Excellence
- Integrity
- Fun
- Service
- Legacy
To us, physiotherapy is not about ‘fixing people’. It’s about being the expert the patient needs, exactly when we’re needed. It’s providing the knowledge, skill, and experience to guide our patients back to their full potential. And finally, it’s about making the rehabilitation experience positive – and maybe even a little fun!
